DENVER — This is where ski resorts in Colorado have gotten most of their money from, according to a new report.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization released a new study Thursday that found that Colorado resorts spend more money than anywhere else on snowmaking.
The report comes after a series of ski resorts that have struggled to bring in money.
This year alone, the Colorado Department of Parks and Recreation reported snowmaking revenue of $4.2 million.
The top two resorts, Denali and Mount Rainier, reported the most in snowmaking from snowfall of any of the 15 states.
The average ski resort in Colorado spends about $4 million a year on snow making.
Colorado has also been hit by two devastating winters: one in 2016 that was deadly and devastating, and another in 2019 that was just as devastating.
The two winters combined resulted in snowfall totals of more than 5.3 million inches in Colorado.
